BPF announces new junior vice-president

Mark Allen

Mark Allan, chief executive at Landsec, has become the junior vice-president of the British Property Federation (BPF).

Allan joins BPF president David Partridge, senior partner of Argent LLP and chairman of Argent Related – and BPF vice-president Guy Grainger, global head of sustainability services & ESG at JLL – to complete the trade association’s presidential team.

Leech commented: “Mark’s industry experience and current role at Landsec make him well placed to help drive our mission to improve understanding among our key stakeholders of the property industry’s role in supporting our customers and communities, mitigating climate risk and enabling economic growth – and how national and local government, our industry and its customers can work better together as partners to maximise this positive impact across the UK.”

The property industry has a key role to play in creating a more productive and sustainable economy, according to Allan.

He said: “By redefining the role of the landlord and by shaping a better future through environmental and social sustainability leadership we can drive better outcomes for the communities we are engaged with, for the stakeholders we are accountable to and for society at large.

“These are exciting times for us all, the pandemic has provided us with an opportunity to reset and ensure our industry has a defined, proactive and positive role to play in the success of the UK. It is the BPF’s role to galvanise us, to challenge us and to be the voice of our industry. I’m excited to get started.”
