Barrister links up with partner to acquire two-branch agency

Barrister Tom Fazackerley has joined forces with branch manager Sally Moore to acquire Martin & Co’s Wirral Bebington and Wirral Moreton branches from previous owner Alan Rooke.

Called to the Bar in 2010, Fazackerley was previously a solicitor specialising in conveyancing and family law.

Moore, meanwhile, was previously Martin & Co Wirral Bebington’s branch manager and also worked for fellow Property Franchise Group brand Whitegates.

Fazackerley said: “I’ve known Sally for 20 years and my interest in property has always been strong thanks to some development and buy-to-let investments alongside my legal career.

“Once Sally told me that Alan was selling the branches, I knew it would be a great opportunity for me to join forces with her.”

Moore, who transferred to Martin & Co Wirral Bebington in 2018 when Whitegates Bebington’s lettings portfolio was acquired by the neighbouring branch, added: “Martin & Co is extremely well known on the Wirral for lettings, but the sales side of the business is an area we’re really keen to grow.

“Eventually, Tom will oversee sales and I’ll look after the lettings side of the business, with the Bebington office covering one half of the Wirral and the Moreton branch covering the other half.”

Penny Sanders, head of franchising at TPFG, has spoken out in favour of the acquisition.

“I have no doubt the business will go from strength to strength,” she said.

This should be in Movers and Shakers. It is not industry news.

Buried underneath this, in 2018, the article refers to another story of one branch buying another branch within the same chain. It is not surprising there are so many movements in this chain. This is not expansion they are closing each other down.

Yep, it’s good money for the franchise office as they get another franchise fee when the offices change hands.
