Agent who lost both legs in crash thanks all those who have helped him

The estate agent who lost both legs after being crushed by a car has thanked the many people who have helped him.

Shaun Whiter, 27, who is branch manager at David Lee in Stansted, Essex, had stopped to help a friend change a tyre when he was hit.

So far, nearly £100,000 has been raised to support Shaun and the friend, Joey Abbs, who was also hurt in the crash.

Sports-loving Shaun was guest of honour at a charity football match at the weekend which raised a further £8,500.

The Newmarket Town match was the day after Shaun got out of hospital. Shaun is due to marry his fiancé Charlotte Way next July, and has vowed to walk down the aisle.

A man, Jan Adamec, has been remanded in custody after denying two charges of causing serious injuries by dangerous driving.

There is more here including pictures of Shaun at the charity match.
