An estate agent has been sentenced after he used the keys to a home he was selling to enter and steal an iPad.

Negotiator Glenn Tuxford, 19, was sentenced to 40 hours unpaid work to be carried out within the next year, and ordered to pay £310 in compensation, plus costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £60.

The home owner, 24-year-old Holly Junor, said she felt “violated” by the theft. She said Tuxford knew that she lived alone and had no family living nearby, and also knew what her working hours were.

She said: “I have had to change the locks and I am still trying to sell the house so I had to give the keys to another estate agent after what happened.

“What he did was very unprofessional and I felt totally violated.”

PC Nicola Ambrose, of Thames Valley Police, said: “Tuxford committed an extremely invasive crime.

“Cases such as these can affect victims for a very long time: not only is their property stolen but there can be long-lasting psychological effects.

“He was in a position of trust, and totally abused his position within the estate agents where he worked.”

Police have not named the estate agents in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, where Tuxford was working at the time of the offence.
