James Waight promoted to head of sales at John D Wood & Co.

John D Wood & Co. has promoted James Waight to the position of head of sales.

In his new role, Waight will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the business’ sales operations, developing and implementing sales strategies, and leading a dynamic team.

The estate agent joined the business over eleven years ago in the Fulham Broadway office and worked his way up through the ranks to the position of regional director, overseeing the central London sales offices.

Waight said: “I am grateful for the support of my colleagues and the trust that the company has placed in me to be a custodian of this historic business. I look forward to leading our talented sales team to even greater achievements.”

The firm’s MD, Polly Ogden Duffy, added: “In this business our people are our priority, as well as ensuring our service levels are delivered with distinction. Jimmy [James Waight] embodies the values of the John D Wood & Co. brand so I am delighted to hand the reigns of the sales business to him.”

 

Fine & Country welcomes new business development manager

Hayley O’Keefe

Fine & Country has announced the appointment of Hayley O’Keefe as their new business development manager.

O’Keefe brings with her plenty of experience for building meaningful partnerships within the estate agency industry.

Her journey in the property industry began in the early days of 1996 when she embarked on her career as a negotiator with Countrywide. She later became a branch manager at the firm. In June 1999, she made a move to join Bradford & Bingley Relocation, now Cartus.

In 2002, she was appointed by the Relocation Agent Network, before joining Ravensworth in 2014, where she remained until February 2019.

In March 2019, she embarked on a new adventure at iamsold, before briefly returning to agency life last year. Now she has joined Fine & Country.

O’Keefe said: “I am driven by the belief that building meaningful partnerships for mutual benefit is the cornerstone of success within the estate agency sector. I am passionate about the industry and working with estate agents and look forward making a valuable contribution to the brand and the network.”

McCarthy Stone appoints new MD to run its Northern division

Ciaran Aldridge

McCarthy Stone, a developer and manager of retirement communities, has appointed Ciaran Aldridge as its new managing director for its Northern division.

Aldridge joins from Aldi, the supermarket operator, where he was national property director since 2016.

Aldridge is responsible for running its Northern division that is currently selling across 28 developments. The division also has 11 retirement communities under construction and its land team is looking to buy at least 12 new sites per year.

He will manage the division’s land and construction budget which will total circa £250m over the next three years.

Aldridge said: “Our ageing population means we need to provide more and better housing options for those in later life so I’m hugely excited about joining McCarthy Stone. I will use my extensive experience of the land market to help more older people enjoy the many benefits of living in a retirement community.”

John Tonkiss, chief executive of McCarthy Stone, added: “I’m delighted to welcome Ciaran to the business. He has superb knowledge and experience of the development world given his time at Aldi and will be integral to helping us open new high-quality and affordable retirement communities across the north”.
