Face coverings in shops and public transport will no longer be a legal requirement in England from Monday.
In Scotland and Wales, face masks will remain compulsory in most public indoor settings in the next phase of easing coronavirus restrictions – which is on 19 July for Scotland and 7 August for Wales.
The rules around face coverings in Northern Ireland are expected to be considered next month, but early signs are that they will be eased.
Although wearing face masks will no longer be a legal requirement in England, some experts point out that they typically reduce transmission by about 25% – if everyone wears them.
