Ahead of the release of their ‘State of the Lettings Industry’ report, Goodlord and Vouch are calling on all letting professionals to have their say.

Property technology company Goodlord has teamed up with referencing provider Vouch to provide the sector with an in-depth analysis of the trends, progress and challenges facing the industry.

The report, which is due to be released in September, normally includes feedback from hundreds of sector professionals. This year, however, the ambition is to bring together an even greater number of voices.

This year’s survey will be open until 25th July and all lettings professionals throughout the UK can respond.

Lettings professionals will be asked to reflect on what has been one of the most turbulent years in history for industry, with their responses set to reveal how arrears, stock levels, Covid-19, and a changing legislative landscape have impacted business and industry confidence.

Last year’s report – released in September 2020, six months into the Covid-19 pandemic – showed that, despite being overwhelmingly optimistic about the future of the industry, almost half – 47% – of letting professionals cited the ongoing impact of Covid-19 as their primary concern.

This year’s report will reveal whether sentiment has changed after another year of Covid-19, the protracted evictions ban, and the introduction of EU Right to Rent checks.

It will also shed light on whether arrears have worsened over the past year. Last September, two-thirds of survey respondents said that arrears had increased as a direct result of Covid-19. Half of these said that arrears had increased by up to 10%. And six percent of respondents said that arrears had increased by a huge 30%.

The report will also reveal findings from a concurrent survey of thousands of tenants, including the continuing impact of Covid-19 on their incomes and ability to pay rent.
