Winkworth expands its country house operation

Winkworth is expanding its country house operation to capitalise on demand from UK and international buyers.

From Winkworth’s head office in London’s St James’s, Winkworth Country House is galvanising its experts in the network’s offices in affluent rural and coastal areas by providing connections with its London and international offices to target high net worth buyers in the UK and globally.

Winkworth says its Country House is also leveraging the contacts of the network’s Asia Pacific team, targeting their high net worth audiences looking for prime homes as a UK base, and also for their children studying here.

Dominic Agace, chief executive, Winkworth, said: “Country houses are an integral part of the prime and super-prime markets in the UK, which have seen significant growth and activity in recent years – more than any other property segment. While London remains the most popular location to people looking to purchase high-end properties, we are now seeing more interest from high net worth buyers looking for impressive residences which offer a premium lifestyle and privacy outside the capital.

“These buyers are looking for space, grandeur and the highest level of specification and leisure facilities, whether set in acres of grounds on exclusive private estates in the Home Counties or in beautiful rural or coastal spots. Many are looking for proximity to major public schools and leading universities, while still being connected to the capital and within easy reach of Heathrow, Gatwick and City airports.

“The expansion of Winkworth Country House is a natural progression for us as a premium, trusted heritage brand. Our country house agents have first-hand experience and knowledge, gained from living in the areas they cover and operating within Winkworth’s extensive network of country offices.  In addition to their deep understanding of each house they market, our agents can offer invaluable advice on the best schools, sporting pursuits and way of life.”

Anthony Blackstone, who runs Winkworth’s offices in Sunningdale and Bagshot, covering prime areas of Surrey and Berkshire, including the Wentworth Estate in Virginia Water, has played an integral part in the expansion.

He commented: “Winkworth Country House has impeccable connections to reach high net worth audiences, who are often discretionary buyers. As well as focusing on buying and selling grand country estates, listed properties, rural hideaways and coastal homes, we are also advising on prime new country houses.

“Strategic advice on market analysis, price planning, design, funding and sales will be provided by our expert team member Jordan Sturgess who has a wealth of experience and knowledge in the super prime country house market.  Prime rentals are also covered, working with Winkworth’s corporate relocation team who deal with the largest corporations globally for the relocation of their top executives in the UK.”

Winkworth, which has been buying and selling houses since 1835, has a nationwide network of over 100 offices, with more than 60 across the capital.
