It is possibly the greatest whodunnit since JR was shot, suggested one of Eye’s posters yesterday.
We are of course talking about the Twitter account, ConTheMarket – which was suspended this morning.
We only had two suspects but both have eliminated themselves.
So, given that it is neither Stephen Jury nor Russell Quirk – even though the latter acquired the ConTheMarket domain names – who could it possibly be?
It was obviously the work of someone who reads Eye and keeps close tabs on the industry.
We have resorted to the time-honoured tactic of offering a reward.
So, if you know, simply email Eye’s editor in complete confidence with the name or names of any new suspects.
If you are proved correct, we’ll hand over £100 to Agents’ Giving.
Meanwhile, a spokesperson for OnTheMarket said: “Brand impersonation is against Twitter’s rules. We notified them of this example and they have acted accordingly.”

Any chance of an update when it’s convenient, EYE – has anyone’s conscience got the better of them and they’ve ‘fessed up to being the conspirator?
I’m convinced the truth is out there just waiting for us to make a connection.
In the meantime – do we stand down to DEF-CON 2?
;o)
If Ros and the Nick the Sheriff don’t get their man when they ride into town, can I suggest it’s Chalky White and claim my crisp fiver, please?
Its sad that someone would consider it offensive enough to report the account to the twitter gods.
I don’t think it is the “offensiveness” that was the reason for the suspension. It was the misuse of a registered trademark. Try buying a domain name that implies an existing company is conning people and put that companies logo on it and see what happens! – you will need very deep pockets!
There’s obviously a spoilsport out there amongst us. Sad day for banter. #RIP #YOLO #laughoutloud 😉
Awww… so the poor con artist has pulled the plug on the site. Shame. It was controversial to say the least, but conversely it may have increased awareness of the brand. The Quirkster has now contributed to the millions spent buying domain names from the dotcon traders (wonder if Mr Doogie Houser owned those pearls of cr@ppiness…) – and of course he now feels proper conned as a result – he’s wasted a whole listing fee for nowt. Mr Shinerock’s absence of late has been massively conspicuous, don’t you all think – especially considering his earlier constant contact he must now be in the equivalent of forum cold turkey! Unfortunately he has no-one to converse with on his own site, either – today’s contributions have included over a dozen spam posts from some numpty no doubt residing in Constantinople, or somewhere else a considerable distance from our little world.
Happy days, all – once all the pro’s and con‘s are taken into consideration, that is…! ;o)
For once it wasn’t the butler and certainly didn’t suffer from constipation.
Such a conspicuously contrived contention. I would not have expected it to interesting enough to become a conundrum. There’s hardly enough substance to cause controversy.
I concur!
And may I also convey a hearty welcome to the site, Linda McBorough! Nice to see a new conscript with new views to share with us old contributors!
;o)
Keith Lemon hinted it may have been him in his new weekly sketch show.
Shame if has been suspended as micky mouse as it was it did make me smile!
It doesn’t matter now as it appears that @conthemarket user has been suspended on twitter. Somebody obviously didn’t want to be found out.
Suspended account means violations of Twitter rules, meaning user has been reported as scam/spam/fraud etc.
Seems SOMEBODY wasn’t happy about this account
Why spoil the fun? I find it quite entertaining.
