Vindictive ex-boyfriend who sent men to estate agent’s office is jailed

The vindictive former boyfriend of an estate agent sent men to her office.

They showed up for ‘viewing appointments’, but expected sex.

The ex-boyfriend had set up a fake account for her on a ‘swingers’ website. He posted up sexual photographs and ‘chatted’ to men on the site, pretending to be her.

The unwelcome visits to the estate agent’s place of work took place in the days after she had finished with him.

During the hearing at Leicester Crown Court, an upsetting statement from the victim was read out. In it, she said lived in fear, and that it had affected every single aspect of her life.

She said she had suffered embarrassment at work, and fear that a man expecting sex would visit her and not take no for an answer.

Judge Amjad Nawaz sentenced the man to 12 months in prison, saying that an immediate custodial sentence might serve as a deterrent to others.

He told the man – who has not been named in local media reports in order to protect the identity of his victim – that he had acted in retribution.

The judge said that the man had tried to humiliate her in her workplace, and “maximise the distress that could be caused to her”.

The man was also handed a five-year restraining order.

Reading this and thinking of the possible consequences I’m not sure 12 months- serve 6 is enough.
