A vandal who smashed a window at Arena Lettings in Hereford has been ordered to pay compensation.
Steven Daniels entered a guilty plea to one count of causing criminal damage to property valued under £5,000 when he appeared before magistrates in Kidderminster in June.
The court heard from prosecutor Valerie Hart that the 32-year-old had, without lawful excuse, damaged a window belonging to Arena Lettings on King Street in Hereford in January.
He had intended to destroy or damage the window or had been reckless as to whether it would be destroyed or damaged, the court was told.
Daniels, of Ryelands Road in Leominster, was instructed to pay compensation of £120 to Arena Lettings for the damage he caused.
He was also ordered to pay prosecution costs of £135.

I’d love to know what “Lawful excuse” there is for damaging a window.
The perfect example of the weakness of our courts – cause several thousand pounds (a guess) of damage and have to pay £255. Brilliant!!!
I wonder how far £120 gets towards replacing a window and loss of business of people not being able to view properties in that window?
I did think that… It’s hardly likely to dissuade him from doing something similar again, is it? The company’s insurance premiums have probably gone up by that amount at least, not to mention any excesses and those are just the quantifiable costs!
If at all covered by insurance. So many policies do not cover large windows on commercial high street without extra costs, often the reason for shutters.
That’s impressive Kidderminster Court dealing with Hereford jurisdiction. I wonder if CPS would be just as quick if locations were reversed ad it was a Kidderminster agents window “Doolittle & Daly”.
