Two more inventory firms join Property Redress Scheme

The Property Redress Scheme has announced two new joiners who are not agents.

Both are inventory businesses.

They are the Association of Independent Inventory Clerks, a trade body,  and VeriSmart, a licensee organisation.

The AIIC and VeriSmart are joining the likes of No Letting Go and over 20 other independent inventory clerk companies and individuals as members of the PRS. This is in addition to over 4,500 letting and estate agent members.

All members, including the inventory businesses, that are subject to complaints from consumers will have them resolved by the scheme.

The PRS also admits a number of non-agents, including cleaners, painters and decorators, handymen and gardeners. It is not yet known what the membership of such categories is.

The PRS also invites people working in other areas to discuss possible membership.

In contrast, the Property Ombudsman includes only various types of property agents, the one exception being chattels sales agents – taking account of those auctioneers who belong to the SAVA division of NFoPP.

TPO membership base, for which there are unique codes, currently includes: residential sales agents, residential letting agents, online agents, commercial sales agents, commercial lettings agents, chattels sales agents, residential leasehold management companies, property management businesses, acquisition agents and property buying companies.
