Tributes paid to Ian Westerling

Yesterday we reported the death of Ian Westerling at the age of just 51. The comments on the story and on social media bear witness to the esteem and affection in which he was held by those fortunate enough to know and work with him.

In early 2020 Ian became co-owner of Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxon based Estate Agents Pike, Smith & Kemp.

Peter McArdle, Ian’s partner and co-owner, has written:

“Ian’s knowledge and love for the industry was unwavering and infectious.

“To his colleagues, he was generous and giving of time – a true mentor – and huge fun to be around.

“But above all he was a family man through and through.

“He was much loved and admired by all who knew him and our thoughts and heartfelt condolences go out to his family and his many friends.”

Mark Hayward, Chief Executive of NAEA Propertymark told EYE:

“I employed Ian in 1988 and was immediately impressed by his commitment, passion for the industry and ambition.

“Highly regarded by his colleagues and clients, he nevertheless did not shirk responsibility but was always active socially with a real sense of fun.

“I was proud of his achievements and the knowledge and experience he brought latterly to the association was invaluable.”

Agents Giving Chairman Michael Stoop said:

“On behalf of Agents Giving, we are all absolutely devastated to hear the incredibly sad news of Ian Westerling’s untimely death.

“Ian was a very active and popular Ambassador for Agents Giving.

“He will be sorely missed and our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.”

The link to Ian’s family’s chosen charity doesn’t appear to go to the right landing page. Perhaps another quick piece when the page is available, as I’d like to make a donation?
