A debate is due to take place on twitter today about Section 21.
It is being hosted by property software provider VTUK and repair reporting system Fixflo.
The debate will be held at noon.
Agents can tweet VTUK their questions, queries and opinions on the changes using #QuestionTribe.
The session will address changes that require an agent or landlord to provide an adequate response to a tenant’s complaint within 14 days to ensure a Section 21 is served. Should this fail and the tenant complains to the local authority who subsequently enforces, the landlord could be at risk of not being able to serve a Section 21 for six months.
Further evidence of letting agents and landlords struggling with the changes came back in September’s Fixflo Report. Conducted with 300 letting agents, this research revealed one in ten agents were not sure what is required to provide an “adequate response” to a tenant’s request for repairs, whilst 8% were completely unaware of the changes.

The Section 21 rules which only apply to England are not difficult to understand. People are making them more difficult by not understanding in the first place. Night school could be an answer for those that can’t read.
