RICS expelled more than 200 members in 2016 over CPD failings

RICS professionals are being reminded to log their continuing professional development activities by the end of January after it was revealed that hundreds of members have been expelled for failing to do so for three consecutive years.

Surveyor trainer Kate Taylor tweeted earlier this week that disciplinary action had been taken against hundreds of professionals.

She said: “Don’t let (the deadline) pass you by. Last year, disciplinary action was taken and hundreds of professionals were expelled from RICS.”

A spokesman for RICS told EYE: “270 members were expelled from RICS in 2016 for failing to record CPD for three consecutive years. The names of these members were published on the RICS website and in Modus.

“Of the 270, approximately 70 decisions have been challenged. The final outcome of these cases will be published in due course.”
