Redress scheme issues advice on letting agent fees

The newest of the redress schemes has issued guidance on fees charged by letting agents.

The Property Redress Scheme has issued one guide for agents and their landlords, and another guide for agents and their tenants.

The guidance has been summarised from Competitions and Markets Authority guidance.

It was issued after the Property Redress Scheme said the most common grievance so far involved fees charged by letting agents. This month, Citizens Advice claimed that agents’ charge “inexplicable” fees.

Sean Hooker, head of redress, said: “Tenants and landlords also need help understanding what they can complain about and which practices are legitimate and legal.”
