Purplebricks amends ads after ASA informally resolves complaint

The Advertising Standards Authority has informally resolved a complaint against Purplebricks.

The ASA told EYE:

“We received a complaint about an ad on the Purplebricks website which stated that you could ‘pay later’ rather than ‘pay now’ for their service at no extra cost.

“The complainant, who understood that choosing the ‘pay later’ payment method incurred an administration fee,  challenged whether the claim ‘pay later…it’s the same price as paying upfront’ was misleading.

“We contacted Purplebricks, who told us that they were already in the process of amending this ad in addition to others of a similar nature.

“On that basis we considered the matter resolved and closed the case informally.”

From my understanding, Purplebricks will soon need to amend all the licence agreements for the 600+ LPE’s as they are being taken to an employment tribunal by a previous LPE. They have already lost the case but blamed COVID on not getting the paperwork and apparently, the defence is that it was a franchise. so hired the big boy law firm to fight it. this could cost them millions and hopefully, the current and ex LPE’s will get what they deserve, better working conditions, holiday and sick pay and backdated pension.

Watch the share price and their bank balance tumble, or maybe like always the big boys with the big cheque book will prevail.

I wouldn’t want to a be a TO right now as I am sure PB will make them carry the can on much of it

This makes interesting reading – EX Bricker – not surprising they have managed to worm an appeal (using Covid excuses) when the case had already been awarded to the claimant – I hope all LPE’s – current and EX – manage to read your post – a Franchise – WOW – that really is the biggest joke ever – I would love to be a fly on the wall when the ”big boy lawyer” decides to defend this one – the que of potential witnesses will be miles long – miles – like the pretty woman film – ”big mistake” – they missed it & a case managed to be heard in court before they opened their cheque books to shut someone up – you should take this pure gold to the press – let a journalist get their teeth into this story -[Sentence removed as it breached posting rules]
