Openmoove has announced it will provide material information free of charge, with no cost passed to the agent or the consumer.
The property platform said the change applies to every seller onboarded to its platform and comes as the industry responds to the government’s Home Buying and Selling Reform Roadmap, published in June.
The roadmap sets out reforms aimed at increasing the use of upfront information and digitisation in the home-moving process.
Material information is delivered through Openmoove’s integrations with agency CRM systems Rex, Street, Loop and Apex27, which went live in July. Integrations with Alto and Reapit are planned.
Sellers are onboarded at valuation and buyers at viewing, with information gathered through the agent’s existing workflow.
The platform also allows sellers to instruct a conveyancer and mortgage broker through integrations. Where a consumer chooses to take a service through the platform, revenue share flows back to the professional who onboarded them.
Ross McKenzie, co-founder of Openmoove, argued that material information should be treated as a compliance requirement rather than an additional product sold to consumers.
McKenzie said: “Material information is a compliance obligation. It is a given, not a product. Too many people are trying to commercialise something that should simply be part of doing the job properly, and every pound taken out of the consumer at that stage makes the transaction harder, not easier.
“We would rather remove the cost entirely and earn our revenue by providing a product, our communication app, that deserves it.”

What exactly is included in the free material information? Does it cover the full picture, including PIQ, BASPI, TA6/TA7 content, and HMLR office copies and searches, or only part of it?
