Ballantynes has completed the acquisition of well-known Edinburgh letting agents Capital Lettings.

Capital Lettings, which has seen its entire team transfer to Ballantynes Property Group, has been sold after David Smith, the firm’s founder, decided to retire.

Adding to an expanding rental portfolio, Ballantynes will continue to provide the full service offered within the Ballantynes Property Group – including development land sales, valuation, new and establish home sales and lettings.

Capital Lettings and its staff have relocated into Ballantynes Property Group’s existing West End Edinburgh office at 30 Stafford Street, Edinburgh EH3 7BD.

David Smith, founder of Capital Lettings, commented “After twenty two very happy years managing Capital Lettings it is with a tinge of sadness that I will be hanging up my keys. I have met so many great landlords, tenants and colleagues along the way that I am now lucky enough to call friends.

“This sale has been a long time in the making and knowing that the hard work and attention I have put into the business is shared by Rory and his team means I am happy to hand over to Ballantynes and delighted that my clients will be looked after as they have been under myself and my team.”

Rory Ballantyne, managing director of Ballantynes Property Group, said: “Following our successful acquisition of REAM Ltd back in 2017 we have continued to seek opportunities to expand our letting division and Capital Lettings fits our profile perfectly. We continue to target opportunities that will grow our business whilst working with companies that align themselves with our values.

“Capital are a well-known and highly respected lettings company founded by David over 22 years ago. We are excited to have his team join ours and continue to deliver the high level of service the landlords and tenants have enjoyed under David’s management.”
