An arrest warrant has been issued for a British estate agent accused of fraudulently keeping a significant sum of money from the sale of a property in Lanzarote.
Theresa Arcari, who operates as an agent in both Lanzarote and Tenerife, has repeatedly failed to turn up at court.
It is alleged that Arcari stole in the region of £57,000 after the seller of a property in Orzola granted her power on attorney.
A British purchaser agreed to buy the property in Spain and transferred into Arcari’s account three instalments, collectively worth just over €67,000 (£57,000).
Arcari, who is no longer living at her registered address, did not have her passport confiscated nor did she have her assets frozen. This is despite the fact that the rogue agent now faces up to six years in prison, a fine of €5,500, and the return of more than €67,000.
Following this alleged scam, Arcari reportedly continues to operate as an estate agent across several websites, using various aliases.
