New rents agreed are stalling in price

Price growth for new rents agreed across the UK continued to ease in September, says referencing firm Homelet.

It says there was a cooling in the rental market for the second month in a row.

Homelet recorded eight regions where newly agreed rents fell on average, and just four with price growth – London at 0.1%, the west midlands at 1.2%, the south-west at 0.1% and Northern Ireland at 4.2%.

In Scotland, Wales, the north-east of England and the east midlands, new rental prices are lower now than a year ago.
