New property platform Proptyle running online agents’ ads

Proptyle, the new online property listing platform that is scraping its inventory from agents’ sites, looks to be  placing adverts by eMoov on the listings of other online agents, including Purplebricks and hatched.

Intrigued by the discovery, we searched for listings by traditional agents at a large local development and found another online agent advertising alongside Waterfords and Romans’ listings in Fleet, Hampshire.

YOPA formerly stood for Your Online Property Agent, but now stands for Your Property Agent.

While the adverts could be user-generated and personalised to users based on their browser history, a spokesperson for eMoov confirmed that its marketing includes Proptyle while Proptyle confirmed that eMoov is on its site.

Thats actually just google adsense, google choose what ads to list on your site!

That’s true but you can – and really should – deploy filters to make sure that the ads that are shown on your own website are appropriate. You can block ads from whole sectors (such as ‘real estate’) and even individual companies (such as “yopa.co.uk”) that you do not want popping up alongside your content.

Like PeeBee, I suspect this is not going to end gently …

I bet they get a few quid with the TV agents google budget, really the site to me looks like its set up purely to generate revenue from adsense and the scraping of properties is providing the content for the ads to be displayed.

    So simple question.

If I take photos and write details of a house I am selling on behalf of a client and if another agent attempted to market the property using my photos and write up would I have the legal right to have them remove this if they did this without my permission ?

    Yes or No?

If yes then I guess proptyle should be requesting permission? Because I don’t really want my property being seen in anyway I or my clients feel may be inappropriate marketing.

If no then doesn’t this open all estate agents up to aggressive tactics to either destabilise our marketing or use our intellectual property for whatever purposes that suit the business but not us, the actual invested agent.
