Mystery as top figures at NFoPP are ‘put on gardening leave’

Two senior figures at NFoPP are understood to have been put on gardening leave for three months.

They are believed to be Rob Clutton, the finance director, and Brian Schubert, the head of sales and marketing.

Schubert, who was formerly head of marketing at the RICS, has been with NFoPP for just over four years.

Clutton has been in his role for eight years.

Sources say they were escorted from NFoPP headquarters at Arbon House and that, pending investigations, they could return to their jobs.

When we tried to contact them at Arbon House, the telephone receptionist said that Clutton was not in the office and she did not know when he would be back.

Schubert was also said to be on holiday.

We have been unable to speak to either of them.

Yesterday, NAEA Propertymark chief executive Mark Hayward said he could not comment.

He told us: “We do not comment on internal staff matters.”

As with everything, they will not come out and tell you why or the outcome even if they do leave.

The AGM is rapidly approaching and members need to ask some searching questions of the executive who appear to be acting unconstitutionally, wanting to take more powers and greater control away from members in proposed rule changes and have serious questions to answer over the accounts and running of the association. This story is worrying and members deserve proper answers.

Over the past few weeks and months, I have been contacted by a number of people at Arbon House who have expressed grave concerns and upset at the management style and working atmosphere under the current leadership. These calls have not been canvassed and anonymity has always been requested and honoured.

Feels like a ‘house of cards’esque ruling elite doing whatever they deem necessary to protect and maintain their self interests.

As usual the fault here is NAEA lacking communication with its members. Seen so many clubs run by handful of people for their own benefit …. who hasn’t. On the other hand seen many a member who you would not want in a position of power! There are always two sides to a story and in this case NAEA are looking like the old boys/girls club. We don’t want you if you will answer us back, we only want “Yes people”. Sometimes a person who is willing to fight their corner is good for an organisation or you are seen as burying heads in sand when it gets tough. From what I know of the other candidates ….. nothing and that says a lot. What is without doubt an issue …. who are the NAEA? and that needs changing.

Ah but you need to show the secret handshake to know more!

Seems like they are becoming more secretive every day.

Schubert was questionable at best as head of marketing; he could often be found presenting about the benefits of ARLA membership….

to roomfuls of, yes you guessed it,

    ARLA members.

So, quiet over tenant fees, a VP who has stepped down, an all expenses paid trip to Washington, massaging the constitution and a presidential candidate for a lettings association who doesn’t work in lettings.

If ever the Eastenders writers get short on ideas, head on over to Arbon House. Actually, thats given me an idea for a new soap:

    Arbon
