The Ministry of Defence has launched a scheme allowing defence personnel to apply for a loan to meet the cost of a deposit for a rental property.

The MoD said it recognised that moving within the private rented sector can be expensive, with the cost of a deposit a potential barrier to moving at all.

The advance of salary loan is limited to the cost of the deposit and must be repaid from salary within 12 months.

The Tenancy Deposit Loan scheme is available to both military and civil service defence staff.
