Lee Rowley has been re-appointed as housing minister, the Department for Levelling Up Housing & Communities (DLHUC) has announced.

Rowley will continue in the role he was appointed to under Liz Truss’s government last month.

He was initially appointed in the role on 7 September, but the announcement was delayed due to the passing of the Queen.

He previously served as parliamentary under secretary of state in the department for Business, Energy, and Industrial Strategy (BEIS); and a government whip as Lord Commissioner of the Treasury.

Rowley was elected the Conservative MP for North East Derbyshire on 8 June 2017.

Rowley’s re-appointment makes him the 13th housing minister to take the position since the Conservatives came to power in 2010.

Lucy Frazer has also been named as minister of state in the DLUHC following Rishi Sunak becoming the PM this week.

The Conservative MP for South-East Cambridgeshire since 2015, she had a brief spell as transport minister during Liz Truss’s premiership and was previously treasury minister and a minister in the Ministry of Justice. She has also been solicitor general and before becoming an MP was a practising barrister.

Frazer and Rowley will serve under the reappointed secretary of state Michael Gove.
