Landlords’ Barometer #8: coming up, a year of two halves

Welcome to “Landlords’ Barometer #8” where we look at the trending topics of interest to landlords.

As 2014 draws to a close, it’s a time of reflection but also a chance to look ahead and prepare for the New Year.

I believe that 2015 will be a year of two halves in the property industry – BGA and AGA: Before the General Election and After the General Election.

1. My Top 5 predictions for property in 2015

I’ve dusted off my crystal ball to come up with my top 5 predictions for landlords in 2015. Other people have contributed their thoughts, including high-profile landlord Fergus Wilson.

2. OnTheMarket

What does the landlord community think of OnTheMarket and are they even aware of it?

3. Water legislation

This might have snuck under the radar as it is very lastminute.com

Landlords in Wales, Cheshire, Shropshire, Gloucestershire and Herefordshire, become jointly liable for tenants’ water bill from January 1.

Finally, I wanted to finish with three neat digital services that will help any lettings agent be more efficient in 2015, thereby saving time and money and better serving the customer:

Change tenant utility details in a few clicks with FREE service – New Occupier

Have you heard of Yomdel? Generate leads from your website with free online chat, only paying for verified leads

Digital property inventories can reduce the time taken to do an inventory by over 50% and develop a new income stream for your business

Thank you for reading the Landlords’ Barometer and I will close with another of my favourite quotes:

“The entrepreneur always searches for change, responds to it, and exploits it as an opportunity” ~ Peter Drucker
