Eye’s training guru Julian O’Dell and his fellow director Peter Chapman are acquiring full control of TM Training & Development.
Their announcement follows the deal by which LSLi, the acquisition arm of LSL Property Services, took a major shareholding in Thomas Morris Sales and Lettings.
The deal, which did not include the training company was set up by Thomas Morris, has allowed four of the seven directors, including O’Dell, to exit the agency firm.
O’Dell and Chapman will be buying the other six directors’ shares in TM and will own the restructured business on a 50/50 basis.
O’Dell was a partner of Thomas Morris Sales and Lettings for 15 years during which time he helped set up the training business.
Chapman joined the company in 2007 to help cope with demand for courses. TM now provides training and consultancy services to countless sales and lettings agents across the UK, winning The Sunday Times ‘Estate Agency Supplier of the Year’ award in 2010.
O’Dell said: “I am proud to have been a partner of such a great estate agency as Thomas Morris, but the time was right to sell my share.
“My wife Caterina has also been a partner of Thomas Morris since 1993 and has also sold her share. The transaction allows us to concentrate on her health and wellbeing as she is managing a serious illness.
“Alongside this, I am excited about taking TM forward with Peter and continuing to help our client firms achieve exceptional results.”
O’Dell’s latest piece for Eye – as thought-provoking and sound as usual – is on our site today.
