Now for the story that really matters – as long as we can make it stand up.
Welcome to Calendargate.
We doubt whether #calendargate has helped Rightmove find its happy, as this bendy issue of the day engages with social media in a way that frankly makes Brexit look trivial.
Rightmove gave away desktop calendars – as businesses do – to their customers.
However, their ‘standupability’ has worried agents who have called it a disgrace.
They have posted pictures of distinctly floppy looking Rightmove calendars to prove their point.
Some have had to improvise to make their calendars stand up with the use of inserts – a teddy bear in one case, and what looks like industrial scaffolding in another (only a slight exaggeration, but we recognise a national emergency when we see one).
Worried agents are calling for an industry standard for calendars, and one has suggested crowd-funding.
Some have chucked their calendars in the bin, another has simply laid the calendar flat, and there has even been a call to agents to ask for their money back.
A Rightmove spokesperson told us yesterday: “It’s good to see such inventive use of our calendars and we’ll happily replace them if these agents would like to get in touch.”
Hi @rightmove! The standupability of your 2019 calendars are a disgrace and I'd like to make a formal complaint. pic.twitter.com/8Gw0SpEzbH
