Cat O’Dell, beloved wife of renowned property industry trainer and EYE contributor, Julian O’Dell, has sadly passed away following a 12-year battle with cancer.

Cat was also Julian’s partner in the extraordinary annual fundraiser event Catfest which has raised over £200,000 for cancer charities.

Catfest has been supported by many of Julian’s estate agency client firms and industry suppliers, including Kerfuffle, Agency Express and EYE.

Julian said: “As a family, we are heartbroken but moving forward day by day. Cat was my soul mate for 36 years. She was also the best estate agent I ever worked alongside by a country mile. She was a driving force in Thomas Morris for over 20 years and many of our former employees have sent wonderful messages saying how she was the best agency boss they’ve ever worked for. Lots of the female staff saw her as a role model given her success as a woman in something of a male-dominated environment.

“Catfest was something of which she was fiercely proud and we will be running it again in 2023 as a tribute to her. I know she  will be there in spirit.”

Julian also expresses his gratitude to his client firms and property industry people who have sent messages of support, letters, cards and flowers. There was a sizeable representation at her goodbye service on 1st November, where the church in Salford, Bedfordshire, was full and the overspill livestream in the village hall couldn’t accommodate everybody who wished to attend.

Julian is taking a break from business life until the time seems right to recommence.

I had the privilege of working alongside Cat as a business partner for many years at Thomas Morris and I can only echo what has been mentioned in the article and Julián’s own words.

She was indeed an absolutely outstanding estate agent and was one of the most passionate people I have ever met in my life.

The whole of Thomas Morris Sales & Lettings are thinking of  Julian, his family and reflecting on the contribution Cat made to our company.
