Five agents expelled within last few days from Property Ombudsman scheme

In the last five days, five agents have been expelled by The Property Ombudsman, all over unpaid awards made to complainants.

The tally is on top of seven expulsions last month.

The latest expulsions are: A & A Star Estates in Finchley, London; Jennings & Kent in Erith, Kent; Alexander Reed in Isleworth, Middlesex; Blackhorse Property in Bradford; and Joseph Properties in Burnley.

All have sales and lettings businesses, and none will be able to trade legally because the only other redress scheme, PRS, will not accept them unless and until they make the payments ordered.

The expulsions are all for one year, with the exception of Jennings & Kent, which has been expelled for 18 months.

Alexander Reed was expelled for two years in May, but the latest notification says the expulsion will last an additional year.

A spokesperson for TPO said that reasons for the latest expulsions will be spelled out in publicly available information.

“Alexander Reed was expelled for two years in May, but the latest notification says the expulsion will last an additional year.”

So – they’ve seemingly been trading illegally for nearly half a year and receive a further notice that they will presumably continue to trade illegally under.

You couldn’t chuffing make it up…

  2. Bless You

So what happens?  Are they closed down?

      Clearly not, Bless You.

It would be a farce… if it was funny.

      1. Trying

I work/worked in the same area as Alexander Reed, they closed their doors about a year ago, he tried to offer us his portfolio before he skipped of to South America! (no joke)….wouldn’t have touched it with a barge pole!

  3. Retiredandrelaxed

No sign of them on Zoopla or Rightmove and no sign of a website so maybe they have ceased trading

      Alexander Reed, that is

According to comments here on EYE, and some <BLATANT PLUG ALERT> Rummaging for info that frankly brought up more concrete gen on the Marie Celeste than Alexander Reed, it now seems that @TPOmb have spent a chunk of their Members’ money doing whatever process they do which resulted in them serving a FURTHER ban on a company that, during the time this was all going on, no longer traded… advertised… or even existed, for that matter, it seems.

    You couldn’t make this … stuff… up.
