EYE posting rules reminder: No passing off, please

We continue to thank our readers for your posts on EYE but take the opportunity to remind you that there must be no ‘passing off’ in the ‘handles’ that you use.

Our terms do say that users should register a unique user ID and password. A small handful of users have occasionally given themselves ‘handles’ very similar to other posters – for example, by adding a number or a different number, or a few letters, to an existing user name.

We will from now on be disabling accounts that we believe infringe these rules.

If you have been breaking the no-passing-off rule please do not post comments under that name in the future. Instead, create a new account with a unique user name and use that instead.

In common with most sites, posters on EYE are welcome to use their own names or the ‘handles’ of their choice.

Again we do thank the huge majority of our readers for your posts, which are often insightful, witty observations which add to our stories – and have helped make our site what it is.

    A number of us (myself included) have had this issue in the past.

    Never really bothered me or others from what I understand.

    I am guessing two of the more toxic posters from the community as usual have got upset and complained because of their ‘parady’ accounts.

    They can dish it out but cannot take it seems to be a theme that follows them.

    No idea who posting as them but was very funny!

    Am I the only one to see the delicious irony of “passing off” of anonymous “handles”.

    I mean – just supposing someone started posting as smile_please – that would could cause irreparable damage to whoever is the real smile please.

          I’m unique also.  Said it many times here on EYE in past.

          Not like anyone would want to be me anyways…

          …apart from the dozen or so namesakes I’ve collected over the years, that is.

          But I’ve never cwied and cwied about them.  That must make me uniquer than the individual that saw the need to ask Frau Renshaw to have a word with everyone in the playground and not upset the poor wee thing.

          Anyway – I’ve got stuff to do.  Better quack on.
