They say that as you get older the gaps between birthdays appears to decrease. It’s certainly true for Property Industry Eye because, quite unbelievably, this week marks our second birthday.

It only seems five minutes ago that we were celebrating the first one.

So here we are, all grown up and thoroughly enjoying bringing you the very best of the industry news every morning.

Thank you for your support and thank you for making us, in such a short space of time, a leading news publication – with great reader engagement, lively debate, and in-depth discussions of the issues that affect the industry and your working lives.

A special thank you also to our fantastic contributors whose expertise, experience and insights add very considerably to the value of this site. We have by far the best panel of expert contributors in this part of the UK media.

Evolution not revolution

We have recently started a process of evolving the website so that we can provide you with an even more enjoyable reader experience and offer our wonderfully supportive marketing clients more extensive and interesting ways of bringing their goods and services to your attention.

It’s very much a work in progress so there are bound to be the odd glitches here and there and sometimes we may have to do a bit of tweaking to get things right.

As you might have noticed, on Monday this week the site ran very slowly for an hour or two – which was caused by us carrying so many news stories!

IT have sorted that issue out and now we can run as many as we like.

We have some more changes on the way and in the next couple of weeks there is something really exciting to roll out concerning the ways in which you can communicate with us and with each other. We’ll let you know more about this shortly.

Supporting good causes

EYE is not all about work, however. We have had the great pleasure of helping a number of charitable causes in the past year and perhaps the most enjoyable was the opportunity last Christmas to auction one of Julian O’Dell’s wonderful pencil drawings.

By your generosity we substantially helped Julian in his quest to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support and we’ll be continuing that help this year.

We are looking for a new EYE  journalist – can you help?

I cannot let our second birthday go by without saying a huge thank you to our editor, Ros Renshaw.

Editing EYE is a very big responsibility requiring a great deal of skill and effort to repeatedly come up with fresh and interesting news, and Ros does it day in and day out.

Time and again she gets the stories that others miss and, whatever some may choose to think, she covers the news without fear or favour. EYE really is the place where news comes first.

I must underline the contribution made by our great group of contributors on EYE. We now also have several freelance writers, but we are now recruiting a full-time senior news reporter who will write every day and who will help to lighten the load on Ros.

We would be delighted to hear from you if you can recommend suitable candidates.

Perhaps they work on your local newspaper or you know of an ambitious journalist on another property-related title who would relish working with EYE.

Whoever they are, they will need to have a great nose for news!

If you can recommend a candidate, let me know either by phone or email.

A big thank you

My thanks also go to the other members of the EYE team – John, Charlene, Selan, Jeremy, who all contribute to our success. We look forward to our third year with great enthusiasm and to continuing to be your favourite news website.

Thanks everyone!
