Edinburgh agent reports 200% rise in activity post-referendum

An agent in Edinburgh is reporting a big upturn in activity following the ‘No’ vote in the Scottish referendum.

Richard Loudon, partner at Simpson & Marwick, said properties and viewing inquiries increased by 200% at the weekend compared with the previous weekend.

He said: “We are certainly expecting a very active autumn market which has basically been held back for three weeks because of the last minute uncertainty in the vote.

“Despite the market having increased in activity by 25% from last year, the Referendum has inevitably had an element of ‘drag effect’ and I think all agents are expecting an active autumn and an extremely buoyant early spring in 2015.

“It felt as though somebody had just turned on a switch when the phones became far more active on Friday afternoon.”

So they saw 3 people last weekend instead of the one they saw the week-end before!!

Come on PIE don't fall into the trap so many other forums do of printing none stories that are just publicity for the agent
