Dexters acquires another well-established estate agency

Dexters has acquired David Birkett, an independent estate agency based in Primrose Hill, North West London.

The well-established firm, located on Regents Park Road, was founded by David Birkett in 1989, after he worked as an agent in the local area for several years.

One well-placed source told EYE that Dexters completed the deal last week, although it has not yet been announced to the trade press.

The rapidly growing London-based estate agency will be rebranding the David Birkett shop and it will soon be trading as Dexters, while the domain name of the David Birkett website will point to the Dexters site by the end of this week.

This is the latest in a long line of purchases by Dexters, which last month completed the acquisition of Marsh & Parsons from LSL Property Services for £29m, adding around 30 branches to the business.

Dexters now has close to 150 offices across London, with 2,000 members of staff serving more than 37,000 landlords and advising on the sale of over £5bn worth of property per year.

In February last year, Dexters announced a partnership and major financial backing from Oakley Capital with a growth strategy of opening further offices and building market share through the acquisition of other competitors, alongside expanding the group’s digital presence and services.

Dexters reports that it was 16% up on new instructions in December 2022 compared to 2021, and applicant registrations were up by 30% over the festive period, making for a busy start to 2023.

Dexters has maintained consistent growth, increasing revenue by 14% per year over the last 10 years.

The company recently announced the opening of nine new offices in south east London located in Blackheath, Brockley, East Dulwich, Honor Oak, Ladywell, Lee, New Cross, Nunhead and Peckham Rye.

For obvious reasons you remember where you were and what you were doing when you heard a plane had flown into the World Trade Centre, I’d just come off the phone to Jeff Doble who told me his plans for the future and asking for some help to achieve his goals.

He, alongside the likes of Richard Martin & Mike Goddard is one of the few that did what they reckoned they would
