Connells’ firm Sharman Quinney snaps up independent agent

Property sales and lettings agency Sharman Quinney, part of Connells, has acquired an independent agent, Gilbert & Thomas.

This latest addition means that Sharman Quinney’s network totals 20 branches across Cambridgeshire, Lincolnshire, Northamptonshire and now Rutland.

Sharman Quinney, itself acquired by Connells in 2003, has not disclosed the price paid for Gilbert & Thomas, which was founded 17 years ago, employs ten staff and has offices in Oakham and Uppingham.

Gilbert & Thomas will continue to trade under its existing brand with founder and managing director Vaughan Gilbert remaining in charge of operations.

Sharman Quinney managing director Mike Sharman said: “We are delighted to welcome such a strong and well respected business such as Gilbert & Thomas into the Sharman Quinney network.

“This acquisition sits in a location that perfectly complements our existing branches, allows us to increase our regional spread, plus provides further depth to our current offering.

“We look forward to working with Vaughan and his team.”

He said Sharman Quinney is open to approaches from existing sales or lettings businesses looking to sell or who wish to grow as part of a wider group.
