Complaint about auction lot advertisement ends in informal resolution

A complaint about how a piece of land due to be offered at auction was advertised has been resolved informally.

The advert, on the Barnard Marcus Auctions website, drew a complaint as to whether it was misleading, because it did not make clear that the land can only be accessed via third-party land by foot or agricultural vehicle.

The complainant also felt that the advert did not give accurate information about the permitted use of land.

Barnard Marcus Auctions told the Advertising Standards Authority that it would amend the listing.
