Agents did not hesitate to help when the nephew of one of their tenants came into their office yesterday morning and said he had not been able to contact her or gain entry to her flat.

The tenant, in her nineties, has been in her flat – in a block above Ash Residential in Rusholme, Manchester – since 1982.

Office manager Linda Berry went up to the flat with the nephew with a key but could not get in, as the tenant had locked herself in from the inside.

Linda called for sales manager Josh Ash to come up and help.

Ash went to the flat and, with great difficulty, physically barged through the door to get in.

The elderly tenant was found inside, very poorly and delirious after taking a fall.

An ambulance was called and Linda went with the tenant to the hospital and stayed with her there to comfort her.

Josh said: “Perhaps some agents might have waited for a contractor to arrive but I felt we just didn’t have the time.”

The flat was immediately made secure. Yesterday afternoon, the tenant was still being treated in hospital.

We wish her well and congratulate the staff at Ash Residential for their prompt and caring actions.
