Agents being asked to take down ‘unsightly’ To Let boards

Agents and landlords are being asked to remove To Let boards in part of one of Britain’s biggest cities from today.

Liverpool City Council has written to agents and landlords in the Greenbank ward in the south of the city.

The area has a large student population.

Cllr Frank Hont, cabinet member for housing, said: “Local residents are concerned about the impact the boards are having on the area.

“We have been happy to listen and work with them to take action to introduce a pilot scheme which we hope will address the issue.

“So far we have had a broadly positive and constructive response from agents and landlords.”

Last week, Reading Borough Council said it hoped to make a voluntary ban on letting boards around the university area permanent.

A SMALL plate by the front door showing the agents/landlords contact details would be worth having, if is there is a problem with a property it is clear who to phone.
