An estate agent who had expected to be furloughed but found himself made redundant at the start of lockdown has started his own business.
31-year-old Jason Simmons had been working for Butters John Bee in Staffordshire and Cheshire before the arrival of Covid-19 led to the end of his job.
He previously worked for DB Roberts and Skitts.
Simmons said:
“We were waiting to hear we were going to be furloughed.
“I got a call saying unfortunately they were closing the office and I was being made redundant along with all the staff.
“My initial reaction was anger, the company had been great to me and really looked after me so for them to make that decision was disappointing.
“I sat around twiddling my thumbs thinking what am I going to do.
“I looked at other companies but nobody was hiring because of Covid-19.
“I then made the decision to just start up and have a go on my own.”
Jason Simmons, whose business is powered by eXp, opened online on June 1st.
eXp describes itself as ‘the first agent-owned, cloud-based estate agency and one of the fastest growing residential property businesses on the planet’ and is headed up in the UK by Adam Day – founder of Hatched, and ex-Director of Operations at easyproperty.
Good luck, but terrible website! It looks like someone’s else website (well.. it is, and a terrible one at that) with a copy and paste piece of paper for a logo. There are better options out there! Maybe shop around.

Have to agree …. its awful web site. Best of luck lad but just remember there is no short cuts in a service industry.

Appears it’s a template they use for all eXp agents. And not a very good one. Is it Wix or Weebly?
