Chestertons appoints new head of sales

Chestertons has appointed its central London area director, Cory Askew, as the company’s new head of sales, in a drive to further increase the business’ market share across the capital.

Cory Askew

Askew originally joined Chestertons’ Canary Wharf office in 2003 as a temporary office coordinator, and steadily rose through the ranks to become an area director in 2011. He took over the company’s central London sales region in 2016, overseeing eight offices.

Taking up his new role from tomorrow, Askew will take responsibility for optimising the performance of the sales teams across Chestertons’ network of 31 London offices.

Askew said: “Having worked at Chesterton for 18 years, I have seen the company go from strength to strength and was immensely proud when LonRes data confirmed that Chestertons had the largest market share of sales in Prime London in 2020.

“Over the last few years, we have built up a formidable and resilient sales team that has successfully navigated through a volatile and difficult market. My focus now is to work with this team to optimise performance, continue our growth trajectory and ensure that we have the best trained and most engaged sales force in the industry.”

Guy Gittins, the company’s CEO, commented: “I’m delighted to appoint Cory to head of sales. He is a successful and charismatic leader, capable of getting the best out of people. He has consistently proved himself to be proactive and resilient in the toughest market conditions and we have some incredibly exciting plans in the pipeline that will continue to drive Chestertons to be the number one agency in London.”

Peter Hurrell joins Sowerbys

Peter Hurrell

Sowerbys in Norfolk has appointed Peter Hurrell, formerly of Countrywide, to co-manage its land and new homes division.

The 54-year old worked for Countrywide big brand Abbotts for 25 years following a spell in the Royal Navy, including time spent as a regional manager and latterly as a director.

He then left Abbotts in June 2017 to co-found his own estate agency, Stobart & Hurrell with Patrick Stobart, who also left Countrywide’s local team to set up the company with Hurrell.

However, after leaving the firm in January, Hurrell is now helping lead Sowerbys’ land and new homes team alongside Richard Cheal and Harry Thompson.

“I consider myself really fortunate, I am incredibly passionate about property and I get to come into work, in one of the nicest parts of the country and where the customers experience is always valued ahead of any business interest,” he said. “I am hugely ambitious to assist in growing land and new homes and making it flourish.”
