wearethemarket.co.uk, which has so far gained the support of 28 independent firms across 53 offices in Coventry and Warwickshire accessing what they claim to be around 80% of the available stock in the region, is now live.
The new portal, which went live yesterday, will concentrate initially on Coventry and Warwickshire. The website currently features more than 3,000 properties for sale and to let, but plans to expand into other areas if both consumers and agents sign up to the benefits of the platform.
Last month, Rugby legend Jason Robinson was appointed brand ambassador for wearethemarket.co.uk. He is workig with the portal on a range of both consumer and professional-facing initiatives.
Mike Cleary, co-owner at Sheldon Bosley Knight and one of the founders of the portal, commented: “We’re excited that wearethemarket.co.uk is now live with so many independent agents signed up as ambassadors for the portal, as well as rugby legend Jason Robinson OBE lending his support.
“As independent agents, we have unrivalled knowledge of our local areas and our clients deserve to see the best properties and the best of the surrounding area all in one place.”
Many people in the launch area will have already noticed the eye-catching pink branding popping up in agency windows and added to boards to market the portal – and this is just the start, according to Cleary.
Commenting on the launch of the new portal, Michael Hawkins, partner at Peter Clarke, said: “The wearethemarket.co.uk team has taken a simple idea, improved it and made it happen.
“The idea of listing our properties in one place for the consumer is not new, but we have done it intertwining it with our role in promoting the location, creating a local hub that is easy to use and stripped bare of the usual advertising and calculators that detract from the search experience.”

Sounds like an excellent idea. Wish them the very best of luck.

Stay regional and best of luck. This should be happening all over the country.
You can tailor to your local customers who don’t want to sift through properties in other parts of the country and all that banner advertising and gimmicks. You have control and doesn’t require a meggar server and will not become reliant on the ‘norm’ with national web portals or interference from disruptors.

Hi Woodentop
You are absolutely right, it should be happening all over the country. Our model enables agents wherever they are to join on an equity basis and to a large degree set their own agenda. Our model is at its best when the bulk of local agents get together. We have 28 agents, 53 offices in Coventy & Warwickshire and so its easier to list who isn’t on our portal. We will shortly be inviting our local communities to advertise on our portal thus benefiting them from the typical 50/60 views per day per property. A win:win for everyone and not a city shareholder in sight!
If you want to take the lead locally or want us to, please email mike@wearethemarket.co.uk to get started. Your portal, your community, a national network (in time!).

Estate Agents are at the heart of the local community and part of the high street. Many contribute to local businesses, as well as provide employment and charity work.
Years ago agent were friends with each other, often sharing a table at the local Rotary, Lions or business club. Working together benefited everyone. Then the rot started to set in, rivalry, disruptors cost cutting, not liking each other (many still do like each other). Competition turned to board knocking, unreal targets for employees and dirty tricks, all to win the business that still went to their competitors! Became cut throat. What agent every thought they were the only ones that were going to have all the business!!!!!
Local agents will thrive if they work together and step back from the precipice and work as a team. Customers want you and agents who think they stay isolated and win …. think again and that is why some of you struggle!
