Two firms have been removed from the current Best Estate Agent Guide.
Peter Knight, founder and publisher of the guide, was asked about firms which have had their directors banned.
Knight has not said who the firms are that have been removed from the guide.
He told EYE: “We analyse 3bn data points relating to listings performance and use professional mystery shoppers to assess customer service.
“We believe this makes our awards the most inclusive and least subjective in the industry.
“Of the 15,000 estate agency brands that we assessed in 2019, 2,184 were listed in the Best Estate Agent Guide. Of these, we are aware of two (0.09%) that have been found guilty of financial misconduct and they have been removed from the Best Estate Agent Guide.”
I bet they couldn’t afford the £1200 per year for the stickers

Personally I believe that the two previous comments are a little disingenuous – though of course everyone is entitled to their own views. My understanding is that there is no cost at all to be included in the Best Estate Agent Guide – just an option to pay additional money should an agent wish to utilise the official marketing collateral which is absolutely excellent in my view.
I believe that the action taken by Peter Knight demonstrates the integrity of the guide and should be applauded.

You are correct in that the inclusion in the ‘Guide’ is free. However, dependent on how you read the BEAG website blurbery:
“If you want to promote your attainment, including, but not limited to on your website, in your portal advertising, in your marketing materials, on your social media profiles, and in your email signatures – you need to pay a licence agreement to the Property Academy.”
it could be that you are not allowed to even mention “your attainment” without stumping up. “Promotion” isn’t limited to the displaying of stickers or logos (which can quite easily be lifted and pasted anyway).
It is, as you say, dependent on your view – but it would be interesting to hear from BEAG what the ‘official’ position is on promoting your company as a ‘winner’ if you don’t pay the fee.
I have read through their Ts & Cs and nothing there is crystal clear.
Except, that is, the fact that “We comply with the Data Protection Act 1998 (the “DPA”).“…
…which of course is always good to know.
Or was, until May 2018… (insert rolling eyes emoji)
