Best of luck to two estate agents who yesterday set off for Malawi, having raised £10,000 to help children.
The remarkable Patrick Sullivan, of Redbrick, Coventry, and Chris Holmes, of Bricknells Rentals, will spend the next month as volunteers in schools.
The pair pay all their own travel and costs, so that all the money they raise can go towards projects that they personally work on.
This includes a solar-powered LED projector system that will help deliver lessons to an average of 124 children per classroom where books are in almost no supply and pupils sit on rocks.
The system will allow teaches to use an Android tablet to project the curriculum on to a wall. The pair will also be doing some building and refurbishment, including making toilet blocks useable.
In Malawi, out of a population of 19m, some 12m live below the poverty line on 96p per day.
Sullivan and Holmes, both managing director of their own businesses, operate through a small registered charity so that all the money they raise can be accounted for. (England & Wales 1183709).
The pair will also be spending the current trip looking for new projects, dealing directly with teachers and village elders in the country known as the warm heart of Africa.
It is their second trip – and there will be more. If any agent is interested in joining them for future expeditions they would be delighted to hear from you.
Meanwhile, any help would be much appreciated to boost the money they are looking to invest in the future of this beautiful, peaceful but very poverty-stricken land.
Donations and offers of interest can be made through the charity, Bwengu Projects Malawi, linked below.
Respect to you both, gentlemen!
