Agent’s quest for new listings could cost it £110,000 as it launches promotion

An estate agent has launched a major promotion which will involve giving away £1,000 a week every week for ten weeks – plus a possible further £100,000 if someone manages to crack the code to their safe.

Lancashire agents Petty Real, which are in the process of re-branding from Petty, say they are doing it to encourage new listings.

Anyone listing a property between now and Friday, November 8, will be entered into that week’s prize draw, with the chance of winning £1,000.

In addition, sellers can visit the agent’s head office in Burnley on any Friday or Saturday during the promotional period.

Each visitor will get one attempt at cracking the seven-digit code to the safe.

If the code is cracked, the winner will walk away with the £100,000 contents.

Ian Blythell, director at Petty Real, said: “Last year we celebrated 90 years in the business. Historically we have advertised offers and incentives but nothing like this before.”

A spokesperson for the firm said that the promotion was being handled by a third party, and she was unable to say whether insurance had been taken out against the possibility of someone cracking the code to the safe.

However, she added: “This is a genuine promotion. If someone cracks the code, they will win the money.”

A great promotion from a very good agent.  No doubt it will bring a number of instructions in.
