The average new rental price is still rising, ahead of the imminent tenant fees ban.
Referencing firm HomeLet says that last month the average new rent across the UK was £936, up 2% on April last year.
When London is excluded, the average newly agreed rent is now £775, up 1.8% on last year.
In London, the average new rent is now £1,617, up 1.8%.
Average rents have risen most in the south-east, up by 3.2%.
Of the 12 regions monitored by HomeLet, all show rises in newly agreed rents apart from the north-east, where there has been a 1.1% annual decrease.
Generation Rent said “so be it” on R2 when queried about potential rent rises due to tenant fee ban. Game on !
