Chestertons has helped contribute to the most successful year yet for charity Calling London’s winter coat campaign.
The agent’s annual campaign, run with the charity, collects winter coats that are then donated to those who are sleeping rough or are unable to afford a coat.
More than 5,000 coats and fleeces were collected in total, with 3,000 coming from collection points in Chestertons’ 33 London offices.
The agent also used local community groups and businesses to help promote the campaign this year.
The coats have now been sorted and bagged up with the help of volunteers and distributed to over 40 charities and shelters across the capital, including Chestertons’ charity partner St Mungo’s, Crisis at Christmas, Hestia Crisis Support, food banks, refugee groups and charities working with the most vulnerable in the community.
Tim Bates, marketing manager and treasurer of Chestertons’ Charity Champions, said: “We are delighted with the number of coats collected and would like to thank everyone who came to one of our offices to drop off their unwanted winter coats.”
Frances Manthos, founder of the Calling London winter coat campaign, said: “It’s been our biggest year.
“We surpassed our target and are thrilled so many coats came via our Chestertons public donation points.
“Our collaboration with Chestertons has maximised our ability to collect even more coats and reach even more vulnerable people.”
