Rental auction platform to launch free tenant checking ahead of ban

LetsBid, a service that allows agents to add an auction element to both sales and lettings, is to offer free tenant checking in a deal with Experian.

It plans to launch this slightly ahead of the tenancy fee ban due to come into force next year.

Agents registered with LetsBid will be able to access a database of pre-screened, financially sound tenants who are looking for somewhere to rent.

Agents can currently register with LetsBid for free and this offer will be in place for all agents until the middle of 2019 after which a monthly fee will be introduced.

Milton Rodosthenous, LetsBid founder and director, said: “It is likely to be around £100 a month for agents which we feel is a highly competitive offer.”

He said the firm aims to create a pool of up to 10,000 pre-screened tenants each month.

Through the LetsBid platform, potential tenants can make bids on rental properties.
