Agents are having a better year for listings and sales compared with the same period of 2017, board supplier Agency Express reckons.
Agency Express has reported a 118.2% annual increase in For Sale board requests, while the use of Sold signs is up 85.1%, according to the firm’s June Property Activity Index.
This compares with a 97.1% annual increase in For Sale signs during June 2017 and a 58.2% jump in Sold boards this time last year.
Despite other reports claiming that stock is at record lows, the Agency Express data found that the number of For Sale boards supplied was up 9.4% on a monthly basis while orders for Sold signs were up 6.2% since May.
In comparison, in June 2017 supply of For Sale boards increased 10.4%, while Sold signs were down 3%, both on a monthly basis.
Six of the twelve UK regions recorded by the index reported increases in properties For Sale and seven reported increases in properties Sold.
London had the largest increase in new listings based on a 62.6% monthly jump in For Sale boards, while the south-west had the biggest rise in Sold signs at 27.9% over the same period.
The biggest month-on-month drop in For Sale signs was in Wales, with orders declining 5.7%, while central England saw a 6.7% dip in Sold boards.
Stephen Watson, managing director of Agency Express, said: “During June we expect to see an increase in activity throughout the market. This month’s data has remained true to trend and year on year increases have been made.
“As we now move into July and August a slowdown is anticipated, so we’ll be monitoring yearly comparisons closely to see how the summer fares.”
