An inventory clerk has come up with a new app to help cut the number of hours it takes to do an inspection and report.
Suki Tiwana has launched it as letting agents gear up for the annual mass inventory of student accommodation, with most students taking up residence at the end of this month. Many letting agents specialising in student accommodation will need to complete 100-plus property inventories in one week.
Last year, Tiwana was asked by a letting agent client to do 100 property inventories in just two weeks – a daunting task.
Using existing apps and her years of experience, it still took her 3½ hours to complete an inventory for a furnished three-bed house.
She said: “The main issue was the app. Existing apps had been designed to ensure the user captured some of the required details by giving them many time-consuming, drop-down menus. These menus are completely unnecessary if the user knows what they are doing.”
She has developed a straightforward app which ensures everything is done correctly, and paired it with an app designed for speed.
With the resulting Property Inventory Tracker app, the inventory for a furnished three-bed houses can be done in one hour by an admin person who has attended Tiwana’s half-day free training course.
Tiwana said: “We launched the app at an event in Birmingham. We had excellent feedback from the launch with letting agents seeing this as a good way to make £100 profit per inventory while improving the service to their landlords.”
