Eco estate agent tells vendors to ‘feel the love’

An eco estate agency whose services “don’t cost the Earth” is on a publicity drive to raise its profile.

Although apparently launched in January 2013, it is only now that Property Cat is using a PR service to spread its message.

It invites potential clients to instruct it and “feel the love”.

A not-for-profit business, Property Cat, based in Cardiff, ploughs all its profits directly into local environmental projects.

It is run by Catherine Woods, pictured, who used to work for Barclays Corporate Banking and before that BT.

She now describes herself as an eco warrior, who has experience as a landlord and letting agent. On Twitter, she lists her hobbies as tweeting about eco living and green lifestyles, adding: “I love Earthships and Upcycling.”

For the uninitiated, an earthship is a type of solar house built with rammed earth and old car tyres.

Upcycling is recycling an object so that it becomes something better than the original. It has a whole (American) magazine devoted to it, with features on things like sustainable sandals.

On the Property Cat website, it says it exists “for a higher purpose than profit”. It also offers energy switching.

The agency will plant a tree in the name of its vendors and landlords. The website also has various tips about living a greener lifestyle, while its most recent blog is about foraging.

The business is run without an office and uses paperless systems to reduce its carbon footprint, and meets clients in coffee shops. It operates no set hours.

It offers two packages – one costing from £575, or a full service charged at 1%. Properties are said to be listed on Zoopla.
